L’Institut colombien de l’agriculture et de l’élevage (ICA) est en train de mettre en place la procédure relative aux demandes concernant les organismes vivants modifiés (OVM) afin d’évaluer leurs effets nocifs potentiels sur la conservation et l’utilisation durable de la biodiversité. Les dispositions prises s’appliqueront à toute personne physique ou morale ayant l’intention d’entreprendre des activités comprenant des OVM destinés à l’agriculture, à l’élevage, à la pêche, aux plantations forestières commerciales et agro-industrielles, améliorés lors l’introduction d’un matériel génétique exogène ou lors du recours à la biotechnologie moderne avec la manipulation de son génome sur le territoire national. Toute personne souhaitant entreprendre une ou plusieurs activités impliquant des OVM doit d’abord demander l’autorisation à l’ICA au moyen d’un document signé par la personne physique ou le représentant légal, le cas échant, au moyen du système d’information en la matière de l’entité, en respectant les conditions générales et particulières liées aux types de demandes.

The Colombian Agricultural and Livestock Institute (ICA) establishes the procedure related to requests concerning living modified organisms (LMOs), in order to evaluate the potential negative effects on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. The provisions adopted will apply to any natural or legal person interested in carrying out activities including LMOs intended for use in agriculture, livestock farming, fishing, commercial and agro-industrial forest plantations, which have been improved thanks to the introduction of exogeneous genetic material or thanks to modern biotechnology with the manipulation of the genome on the national territory. Anyone interested in carrying out one or more activities including LMOs must ask for permission to the ICA first by means of a written and signed communication by the natural person or the legal representative, as appropriate, or by means of the information system of the entity, by respecting the general and specific requirements related to all types of requests.
